Worldgroup 3.2 Developer's Kits Notes

Overview
--------

The Worldgroup 3.2 Developers kit is available in downloadable format, and it
is also located on your Worldgroup 3.2 CD.  If you have purchased a license
to use the Worldgroup Developer's Kit, we are making the Developer's Kit
available to you for download from the File Library on the Galacticomm Demo
System.  In order to install the Developer's Kit, you need an activation code
to unlock the files.  The activation code works for all components of the
Developer's Kit, and is different from the Worldgroup 3.2 Developers kit
activation code.  The Developer's Kit consists of four components:

     o  Worldgroup Server Developer Kit - Server side code for NT/95/DOS
     o  Worldgroup Client Developer Kit - Client side code for WGM apps
     o  Worldgroup IS5 Developer Kit - Build InstallShield configs for NT/95

Four separate libraries have been be created on the Galacticomm Demo System:

     o  DEV32SVR - Containing the Server Developer Kit in multiple files
     o  DEV32CLI - Containing the Client Developer Kit in multiple files
     o  DEV31IS5 - Containing the IS5 Developer Kit in multiple files
     o  DEV32ALL - Containing the above kits in self extracting executables


Documentation
-------------

Current Documentation for all of the Worldgroup Developer's Kit is included in
the Worldgroup Server Developer Kit.  It is in the form of Windows Help.  We
apologize but documentation is not available in a format readable by DOS only
systems.  In addition to the Windows Help, the latest changes to the
development environment are available as a WORD '97 Document and Rich Text
Format files located in the DEV32ALL Library.  The files are listed as
WG312DEV.DOC and WG312DEV.RTF.


Downloading the Kits
--------------------

Galacticomm is making the NT/95 kits available for download in two forms.
Each kit can be downloaded as a single large self extracting executable, from
the DEV32ALL Library or if you have trouble downloading large files, you can
download each kit in smaller multiple files, with each file smaller than 1.44
megabytes.  While the files fit on 1.44M floppy disks, the installation files
for each developer kit must be copied to a single directory on your hard drive
to be installed properly.


Installing Developer's Kits
---------------------------

The Worldgroup Server Developer Kit and the Worldgroup Client Developer Kit
only install on a machine that has a valid installation of a Worldgroup 3.2
Server.  The Worldgroup IS5 Developer Kit should only be installed on a
machine that has a valid installation of InstallShield Professional 5.1.  The
DOS only kit can be installed on any machine with enough space.  All developer
kits require an activation code to unlock the encrypted files before the
installation proceeds.  The Worldgroup Server Developer Kit has 32-bit
utilities that require Windows NT/95 to run.  


Worldgroup Server Developer Kit
-------------------------------

This development kit allows you to create or rebuild Worldgroup Server Side
components.  This kit also contains all the documentation for all the
development kits.  This kit requires Borland C++ v5.00 compiler.  Borland has
shipped maintenance releases of their v5 compiler with codes of v5.01 and
v5.02.  These versions do not generate Worldgroup 3.2 COMPATIBLE code.


Worldgroup Client Developer Kit
-------------------------------

This development kit allows you to created or rebuild Worldgroup Client Side
components.  The kit requires Microsoft Visual Basic v3.00 and certain VB3 3rd
party .VBXs and .DLLs.


Worldgroup IS5 Developer Kit
----------------------------

This development kit allows you to create InstallShield Professional v5.1
installation scripts for the NT/95 version of Worldgroup.  During installation
of this developer kit, the install program will look for the InstallShield
Professional 5.1 registry entries.  This developer kit will install files in
the IS5 directories.
