Ranma 1/2: Super Battle FAQ v1.0 (The third SFC Ranma 1/2 fighting game) SNES version: Ranma 1/2: Anything Goes Martial Arts (Still not released yet) This is my first attempt at making a FAQ, so please bear with me! :) Codes: Herb: To use Herb in Story Mode or Vs. Mode, hold down L and R buttons before the character selection screen shows up. Additional Difficulty: For two additional difficulty levels, hold L and R and Select while pressing start on option. Story Mode: Herb has challenged the Ranma fighters to find the ingredients for a secret wish granting idol from his kingdom. Each fighter, because of their particular interests (like Ranma & Ryoga wanting to become normal again, Akane wanting to be able to cook, etc.), has decided to join the tournament. Tag Game: Just like a tag game in a wrestling match... When you see a small life meter appear below yours, that means the tag partner of your team (pre- chosen by you, of course) is ready to come in and replace your original character. To change characters, simply go to the very end of your side, and press "select". Each character's life meter will be restored a little bit after they have rested. Options: Pretty self explainatory. You can choose ahead of time to fight against the computer in Vs. Mode. The "Special" button which can be turned on for each player means that you can execute one of the special moves of the character that you're using by pressing "R" instead of actually performing the special move motion. The Throwing System: In this Ranma game, because each character has a different way of tossing their opponents around (i.e. Using spatulas, ribbons, wooden swords, etc.), the distance required for each character is different. Use your own judge- ment on how far you should be to be able to throw... For instance, to throw with Ukyo, you should stand about a sweep away, because she uses her giant spatula to throw, while if you're using Akane, you need to stand much closer because she uses her bare hands. To throw, push away or towards and one of the attack buttons (some characters can only use strong punch, while others strong kick, or both, and some can even use the weak attack buttons.) Motives for Joining the Tournament: Ranma: To be cured of his curse (have a normal male body again) Ryoga: Say goodby to P-chan (have a normal male body again) Akane: Learn how to swimming Genma: To have a headful of hair Shampoo: Go out with Ranma Mousse: To Be Shampoo's husband (or fiance) Ukyo: Better business at her okonmayaki [sp?] restuarant Kuno: To go out with the "pig-tailed Goddess" Kodachi: To go out with Ranma Hinako: Lots of snacks Mariko: ??? [I forgot... for Kuno, maybe?] Herb: he sponsored the thing... [I don't understand his ending very well] Endings: Ranma: The finished product of the wishing idol is a cat. Ryoga: Because he did not know where he was when he got each ingredient, the end result turned into a woman figure instead of a cat... so it can't grant any wishes. Akane: In order to get the idol, Akane must mix the ingredients together according to the recipe (just like cooking)... Genma: Genma tried to tell the "cat" his wish, but being a panda, the cat can't hear him... Shampoo: Shampoo pulls an unhappy Ranma out for a date. Mousse: ...??? [I don't understand this one] Ukyo: Ukyo uses the resulting cat as a normal "money attracting cat" in her restuarant. Kuno: Kuno is out on a date with an unhappy "pig-tailed goddess" Kodachi: Because she was not as specific as Kuno, and didn't know that Kuno's "pig-tailed goddess" is the same person as Ranma, even though the female Ranma is right there, she still can't find Ranma. Hinako: I want this ... I want that... Hinako pigs out and eats all kinds of snacks. Mariko: ?? Herb: ?? ***************************************************************************** Notes from the author of the FAQ: I actually got this FAQ from a web site (can't remember which), but it was very messed up... It only had the moves, but many of them were wrong, and there was no mention of its author, so I couldn't send anything to the author. After downloading it, I decided to make some changes, add in several sections regarding the game play and endings, and this is what I have right now. I'm still looking for motives and endings of certain characters. Also, if anyone knows what the character are saying during their taunt/power-up and when they win a match, please let me know. At the moment, since I figured out the codes myself (yes, they're that easy), I have not included an acknowledgement section. Please, send any and all comments, suggestions, corrections, ascii art, etc., basically anything you think needs to be in the FAQ to me, Glenn Wang, at gwang@csupomona.edu. G.
