After more than thousand successful installations of CLMS Version 1.0 all over the world, now CLMS Version 2.0 has been launched with few more additional facilities/ utilities like REPORT GENERATION, SPINE LABEL PRINTING, CATALOGUE PRINTING, ON-LINE CALCULATOR, LIBRARY STATISTICS, ABSTRACT DATABASE MANAGEMENT and AUTOMATIC BOOK NUMBER SYSTEM. Provision of DATA CONVERSION from CLMS Version 1.0 is also available in the package.

AIM: The main aim to develop this FULLY MENU-DRIVEN, USER FRIENDLY and SINGLE/MULTI USER(S) (NETWORKING) Package (Compatiable with all types of Computer PC-XT/286/386/486/Pentium Running under DOS/ Windows Environment) is to help all Library Professionals in Computerization of Libraries and providing better services to the readers/users, WITHOUT HAVING ANY TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE COMPUTER. It is hoped that the package will be very useful for all types of libraries, small or big. The package will also useful for SCIENTISTS/ RESEARCHERS in maintaining the references related to the field of research.

DATABASE MANAGEMENT: Most of the databases used in managing library and information centre and almost all necessary modes of operations have been covered in the package. The facilities of APPENDING, EDITING, BROWSING, REMOVING, REVIEWING, SEARCHING and PRINTING of the record(s) of databases for each of the DATABASES 1) BOOK Database, 2) MEMBERS ENROLMENT Database, 3) PURCHASE ORDER Database, 4) BUDGETARY CONTROL Database, 5) SUGGESTION Database, 6) ISSUE Database 7) RESERVATION Database, 8) JOURNAL Database, and 9) ABSTRACT Database have been provided in the package. RELATIONAL DATABASE MANAGEMENT is also included in the package to avoid duplication in data entry. STATUS of Issue, Reservation, etc. can be seen directly from other related modules.

REPORT GENERATION: Various types of reports may be generated by the package in various forms (Directly to Printer/ Screen/ File).

UTILITIES & TOOLS: CATALOGUE Printing, SPINE LABEL Printing, On-line CALCULATOR, etc.

PRASAD AUTOMATIC BOOK NUMBER SYSTEM: The package includes an UNIQUE FACILITY of assigning Book Numbers to entries by the system developed by R.C. Prasad. Five thousand books may be assigned book numbers within one minute without consulting any manual.

DATA PROTECTION: Protection against losing database records due to power failure has been kept in mind in programming stage. PASSWORD facility is also available in the package to protect data from unauthorized users.

FAST SPEED: Subroutines are arranged/ linked in such order so that frequently using subroutines executes faster.

QUERY FACILITIES: The query facilities available in the package are excellent, up-to-date and will enable the personnel to serve the users of the library with more ACCURATE INFORMATION in a SHORT TIME. The queries about the whereabouts of a particular book under a particular subject can be easily answered with CLMS. Outputs in various form (PRINTER/ SCREEN/ FILE) can be prepared using printing options provided in CLMS.

COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER SOFTWARE: All the database files used by the package are fully readable by most of the database management packages and software like dBase, FoxPro, PALMS, etc. The reports generated by the package are in the Standard Text Format (ASCII File) Compatible with all the Word Processing and Desktop Publishing Packages.

Y2K (YEAR 2000 AD) PROBLEM & DATA CONVERSION: The Date problem has been solved in this package and data conversion utility is also available for CLMS users. UNIQUE facility of maintaining records/ information Date-wise from 2nd CENTURY to 30th CENTURY has been provided.
