The mast below the loading coil consists of three sections of aluminum tubing, each four feet in length. They are "quick together" because transverse screws act as stops to each successive insert. The top section--also four feet--is fitted with a sliding insert for adjusting the overall frequency in trombone-style.

Loading coils are needed for 160, 80, 40 and 30 M operation. I use just four 4-ft sections on 20 M; and two sections for 10 M. For 12, 15 and 17 M there are specific combinations of 4-ft and shorter, custom tubing sections. Only 40 M requires a transmatch; the rest are operated straight through.
